We are camping out, with a Texas friend, at Chicot State Park in Ville Platte, LA. for our Father’s Fall Feast, Tabernacles. Two women joined us for the beginning of the feast and another gentleman, from nearby, came and camped with us for a couple of nights.
Our first meal was grilled steaks prepped with Carmalete’s Original Blend, homegrown purple and gold mashed potatoes seasoned with salt and black pepper, a salad, and a bottle of red wine. We blew our shofars to open up the beginning of the Feast.
Breakfast the next morning was scrambled eggs with my Mediterranean Blend or just salt and pepper and turkey bacon. The afternoon meal was provided by one of the women visiting and included deer roast sliced thin, seasoned with Carmalete’s Original Blend, and grilled. Thinly sliced eggplant prepped with my Gourmet Blend also went onto the grill. Boiled corn on the cob complimented our meal and a soft red wine.

Even though the men fished throughout the week, none of them brought anything back to cook. So a couple of meals were eaten at a Mediterranean Restaurant in Alexandria, LA. where I enjoyed hummus, tabouli, and a chicken gyro wrap. Randy ordered the beef and lamb gyro wrap both times, and one of the guys with us ordered the gyro platter one day and fried eggplant and a huge salad. The Mediterranean food in my book is Delicious.
Life on the farm is always interesting. Sheep escape their enclosed areas, the hen house needs winterizing, garden soil needs to be tilled, making new rows for the fall/winter crops, planting of vegetables, and of course watering them because of lack of rain.
Don’t forget to try one of my flavorful blends on your next meal. You may fall in love with one, two, three, four, or all of them like many other people have.
